Towards COP26: Milan hosts the Pre-COP summit 2021
Between September 30th and October 2nd Milan hosted the Pre-COP summit 2021, an international event preceding the Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the UNFCCC, which is taking place this November in Glasgow. The Pre-COP aims to provide an informal setting to discuss and exchange views on some key political aspects and offer political guidance for the subsequent COP26. The Pre-COP was anticipated – from 28 to 30 September – by the Youth4Climate: Driving ambition event, which attracted 400 young delegates from 197 countries all over the world with the aim to put forward ideas and proposals on critical issues concerning the climate agenda.
During the summit, many events have been organised by universities, research centres, public authorities and private stakeholders with the aim to promote collaborative debates on how to face the climate crisis. It was an incredible opportunity to claim the attention on the urgency to get climate change under control and find a common path for future actions.
Bocconi University has played an active role during the summit by hosting the workshop "The contribution of local actors to climate policies and the sustainable development agenda". The workshop involved international speakers and experts on climate policies, sustainability and SDGs, and has been moderated by professor Edoardo Croci, SUR Lab director and member of the Management Committee at GREEN.
