Torre Velasca site visit with Hines Italy

On the 7th of June, Bocconi students had the exclusive opportunity to visit Torre Velasca thanks to SUR Lab partner Hines Italy, who is in charge of the iconic building renovation. Torre Velasca, designed by the prestigious architectural firm Studio BBPR, represents one of the most recognised landmarks of Milan. In 2020, Hines, in collaboration with the Heritage Authority, started a deep renovation plan combining tradition and innovation, past and present. The plan also included the surrounding urban context through the redevelopment of Piazza Velasca with green areas and a lively, exclusively pedestrian retail space to enhance accessibility and provide a better experience for all citizens.

During the visit, Hines representatives presented the project, the business model adopted for the renovation, and its major social, economic, and environmental impacts. The visit was organized within the Sustainable urban regeneration course (20580) in Bocconi.

Further site visits will be organized by the SUR Lab and its partners, allowing Bocconi students to live the exclusive experience of visiting iconic areas and top-tier buildings under regeneration, which will reshape the future of Milan.
