"The social value of urban regeneration" workshop at WUF12 by SUR Lab Bocconi and UN-Habitat
On November 7th, during the 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo, SUR Lab Bocconi, in collaboration with UN-Habitat, will organize the workshop "The Social Value of Urban Regeneration".
Urban regeneration is a critical strategy to transform cities, enhancing quality of life, social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic development.
Cities around the world are continuously engaging in these efforts, which aim to bring both physical and social improvements. By learning from past experiences, policymakers, urban planners, and community leaders can draw valuable insights to guide future projects and address similar challenges in their urban contexts. The event will feature presentations of meaningful case studies of urban regeneration exploring strategies and policies adopted in different urban areas worldwide and creating social value for all.
The SUR ATLAS, created by Bocconi University and UN-Habitat, will be presented during the event. The SUR Atlas is an interactive and open-access repository of worldwide case studies of urban regeneration aimed to discover, analyze and explore the most innovative policies to address social, environmental and economic urban challenges. It represents a reference source for cities, researchers, professionals, and students aiming to increase knowledge of sustainable regeneration solutions.
