Professor Edoardo Croci is the new chairperson of the Urban Europe Research Alliance – UERA
Professor Edoardo Croci, SUR Lab Director and member of the Management Committee at GREEN in Bocconi University, is the new chairperson of UERA - Urban Europe Research Alliance. UERA brings together 58 European research organisations from 20 different countries with the ambition to strengthen, expand and facilitate the interaction between organizations involved in the field of urban research. UERA is one of the key initiatives of JPI Urban Europe, the knowledge hub for urban transitions set up by the European Commission in 2010 to address the global urban challenges. Indeed, UERA contributes to the definitions of JPI Urban Europe's calls and priorities. One of the last initiatives developed by JPI Urban Europe together with the European Commission is the long-term programme called Driving Urban Transitions towards a Sustainable and Liveable Urban Future (DUT). This is a partnership programme with the ambitions to align European and Member States' efforts to enable and boost the urban transformations and transitions. The programme focuses on three prioritised pillars for sustainable urbanisation: Transforming the Urban Energy System; Rethinking the Urban Mobility System and Space (the 15-Minute City); Boosting Green Urban Economies through an integrated approach for urban greening and circularity transitions. Each of them represents an essential area to tackle urban transformation in an integrated and sustainable manner. Co-creating solutions and encouraging international collaboration and cooperation is essential to ensure that transformative actions can be scaled up. The DUT Partnership will contribute to the implementation and localisation of the Green Deal, the Agenda 2030, as well as Urban Agenda for the EU.
