The new partnership between Bocconi University and UN-Habitat on sustainable urban regeneration
The growth of urban population and the increased pressure on urban infrastructures are posing significant challenges on cities, thus requiring innovative solutions to develop a safer, more inclusive and sustainable urban context.
On this matter, Bocconi University and UN-Habitat signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a collaboration on evaluating the impacts of urban regeneration initiatives. Bocconi University and UN-Habitat will closely collaborate to develop methodologies for urban regeneration, implement local regeneration initiatives and create an international networks of urban regeneration experts and projects. The SUR Lab will act as the reference organization for the practical implementation of the partnership’s initiatives. At the World Urban Forum in Cairo, the SUR Lab and UN-Habitat will jointly present an Atlas which gathers international urban regeneration cases and best practices. In addition, the SUR Lab is currently developing an innovative tool which UN-Habitat will employ to evaluate the ESG dimensions of urban regeneration projects.
Professor Edoardo Croci, SUR Lab Director, addressed this new partnership with UN-Habitat as a unique opportunity to jointly develop policies, innovative approaches and business models related to sustainable urban regeneration.
