European Green City Forum

Exactly eight months before the opening of the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, Green City Italia celebrates its 15th anniversary by hosting a special event on the ecological transition of cities.
The event will take place on June 6, 2025, at 9:00 AM, in Piazza Città di Lombardia (Palazzo Lombardia, Milan). The event, organised by Green City Italia in collaboration with Regione Lombardia.
This full-day international gathering will bring together academics, urban planners, policymakers, and Green Cities networks from across Europe to share concrete solutions and exchange ideas around some of the most pressing challenges in urban sustainability, including:
- Sustainable urban regeneration
- Depaving and soil restoration
- Biodiversity and green infrastructure
- Civic participation and ecological citizenship
- Replicable models for regional implementation
The programme features five thematic panels, an exhibition highlighting some of the most innovative urban regeneration projects in Lombardy, and informal networking opportunities, culminating in a Green Aperitivo.
The Forum aims to highlight best practices, strengthen interregional cooperation, and place cities at the centre of the response to the climate crisis.
Among the invited speakers, Professor Edoardo Croci, Director of SUR Lab, will moderate the Panel: Green Cities as beacons for regional policies.
Participation in the Forum will also offer the opportunity to request professional training credits, in accordance with the regulations of the relevant professional bodies.
