Professor Edoardo Croci, SUR Lab Director, recently contributed to two media features for Il Sole 24 Ore and Radiocor, addressing key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of sustainable cities.

In the interview, Professor Croci focused on the relationship between European green building directives, national housing policies, and Italy’s PNRR, emphasising the need to align regulatory frameworks with long-term environmental and social objectives. He highlighted how energy efficiency requirements and housing strategies can become drivers of innovation in the construction sector while supporting more inclusive and sustainable urban growth.

In a complementary video, Professor Croci discussed why investing in urban regeneration is a strategic priority. He argued that upgrading existing urban areas—rather than expanding cities outward—can generate economic value, reduce environmental pressures, and improve quality of life. Urban regeneration, he noted, is a critical lever for combining climate action with competitiveness and social cohesion.
