CSR 2024 workshop: Public-Private Governance for Social Value Creation
On October 11, Bocconi University hosted a workshop titled "Public-Private Governance for Social Value Creation" as part of the 12th edition of CSR 2024. The event brought together influential speakers and experts to explore collaborative strategies that enhance social impact. Participants engaged in discussions on innovative governance models, aiming to foster sustainable development through effective partnerships.
During the workshop, professor Croci described what means "social value" from an economic point of view. It refers to the value created for society as a whole through processes of regeneration, for example. But how can we measure this value? The SUR Lab is currently developing a tool to assess the impacts and benefits generated at various stages of urban regeneration. Equally important is identifying the beneficiaries of this value, which can be distributed between the operator and the real estate developer, reflected in the market value of the completed asset, and ultimately benefiting the occupants and surrounding neighbourhoods. This value assessment also holds significance for the public sector, which can drive decision-making and prioritize transformations that yield the greatest societal benefits.
