Bocconi University, through its Sustainable Urban Regeneration Lab, has been selected as a new official partner of the New European Bauhaus, an interdisciplinary initiative with the aim to design future ways of urban living, situated at the crossroads between art, culture, social inclusion, science and technology. The main aim is to deliver the European Green Deal closer to people's minds and homes, by combining sustainability, accessibility, and economic investment. To achieve this goal, the New European Bauhaus brings together designers, citizens, experts and scientists in a co-creation space to devise innovative, inclusive, digital, and sustainable living spaces. The initiative has been anticipated by the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, during the Official Inauguration of the Academic Year 2020-2021 at Bocconi University, and was formally launched in 2021 by the European Commission.
The New European Bauhaus unfolds in three phases: Co-design, Delivery and Dissemination. During the first one, two thousand examples, ideas and challenges have been collected to boost, scale up, and support the generation of beautiful, sustainable and inclusive places. The second and third phases will actively involve all partners in setting up replicable solutions and prototypes, supported by specific calls for proposals, and in amplifying the ideas and actions that emerged.
As a partner, Bocconi will support the initiative by bringing knowledge, expertise and experience; promoting events and cross-sectorial researches; disseminating knowledge and giving an active contribution in delivering the New European Bauhaus ambitions.
