Bocconi SUR Lab and MUSA at COP30: Research and Policy Dialogues for Urban Sustainability

The Sustainable Urban Regeneration Lab (SUR Lab) of Bocconi University, in collaboration with MUSA – Multilayered Urban Sustainability Action (Spoke 1), will take part in four high-level events at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, contributing to global discussions on climate finance, urban resilience, nature-based solutions, and people-centred governance of natural resources.
 

Through these sessions, the team will share insights and research findings on how to advance sustainable and inclusive urban transitions. Here are all the details to follow the events. 

Events organised by SUR Lab and MUSA

1. Official side event: Local climate finance for a just transition to carbon-neutral and resilient cities
November 11, 18:30 (UTC–3), Side Event Room 1, Area C – Belém
Organised by SUR Lab – Bocconi University, in collaboration with the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE), the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), and the Polytechnic University of Turin.
The session explores how local climate finance can support a just transition toward carbon-neutral and resilient cities.

2. Nature-Based Solutions for Resilient and Carbon Neutral Cities

Organised by SUR Lab – Bocconi University, within MUSA Spoke 1, in collaboration with the Italy NBS Hub and UN-Habitat.
The session discusses how nature-based solutions can be integrated into urban adaptation and mitigation strategies through practical experiences in Italian and European cities.

3. Solutions for People and the Planet: The Venice Manifesto and People-Centred Governance of Natural Resources
November 15, 9:30–11:00 (UTC–3), Italian Pavilion
Organised by IDLO (International Development Law Organization), in collaboration with the CMCC Foundation, LACLIMA (Latin American Climate Lawyers Initiative for Mobilizing Action), Vision, and CEBRI (The Brazilian Center for International Relations).
This joint event will present the Venice Manifesto for COP30 and explore how rule-of-law approaches can foster more inclusive and sustainable models of land and resource governance.

4. Universities for Adaptation: Nature-Based Solutions and Skills for Resilience
November 15, 15.30-17( UTC–3), Italian Pavilion
Organised by the RUS – Network of Universities for Sustainable Development, together with the Politecnico di Torino, University of Brescia, and University of Piemonte Orientale.
The event highlights the role of universities in climate adaptation through nature-based solutions, education, and local collaboration.
